Originally from Hagarstown, MD, right out of high school he joined the Air Force and was stationed in Alaska.  There, through the influence of his superior officer, he accepted the Lord as his Savior.  After his military service he attended Carson-Newman Collage (Jefferson City, TN) where he met and married his wife, Debbie.  They went to New Orealns Theological Seminary where he earned his M. Divinty and PhD degrees in theology.  He's pastored in New Orleans; Blountville, TN; Alaska and began his ministry here in 2001.

 

Evan Edwards
Minister of Music and Worship


His duties incude conducting the Celebration Choir, Orchestra, Praise Team, Handbell Choir and Youth Choir, in addition to leading all aspects of the  music and worship ministry.  Prior to being called to EABC Evan served as Minister of Muisc at the First Baptist Church of Fall Branch in Fall Branch, Tennessee.  While at FBC Fall Branch, his duties included conducting the adult choir and youth choir as well as leading the weekly worship services.  Evan has served on staff at a number of middle schools and high schools throughout East Tennessee, Southwest Virginia and Western North Carolina as a vocal, instrumental and conducting instructor.  An avid performer on tuba, Evan is the principle tuba player for the Jonhson City Symphony Orchestra.

Evan is currently in his ninth year as Minister of Music and Worship at Euclid.  A native to Marion, North Carolina, he holds the degrees Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee and Mastor of Arts in Religion from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia.

He holds memberships in the American Choral Directors Association.  The American Guild of English Handbell Ringers, where he serves as Area III District Chair, The American Guild of Organists and The International Tuba Euphonium Association.

Evan is married to Wendy Edwards who is an elementary music teacher in the Sullivan County school system in Kingsport, Tennessee.  Evan and Wendy have three children: Elijah who is five, Phoebe Grace who is three and Josiah who is two.

 

Bill Thompson
Minister of Youth and Education


Gew up in Oak Ridge, TN, attended Cumberland College in Williamsburg, KY and then seminary at Southern Seminary in Louisville, KY.  Pastored in West Virginia and then was a missionary in Taiwan for 15 years.  Came on staff here in 2003.  He and Susan have three grown children (1son, 2 daughters) and 5 beautiful grandchildren.

 

Susan Thompson
Director of Preschool & Children Ministries


Originally from Pennington Gap, VA, attended Cumberland College where she earned her RN (Registered Nurse) degree.  She and Bill married in college and she served in hospitals wherever they have lived.  In Taiwan she served as a misionary for 15 years where she used her nursing skills, helped start a church and helped start the first crisis pregnancy center in that nation (the Ray of Hope Crisis Preganancy Center).  In 2003 she began her ministry here at Euclid.
